After my tour in Siquijor, I rushed to the port and was about to buy the next ticket going to Dumaguete when a news flash slammed my itinerary goodbye.
Everything's working as planned: I was an hour early from the departure time, no people on line, and had a hearty lunch and it seemed that my trip going back to Cebu en route Dumaguete would be a breeze until I was informed, "Sir, fully-booked na po and we only have one trip for today. Tomorrow na po 'yung next."
I was like "What?" This was so not happening. So, I just called my friends in Cebu and told them I wouldn't make that night and we'll just go out some time. I was really looking forward to going out that night for I haven't had a nice drink in days. I also wanted to check the night scene in Cebu during Sinulog.
I met Holland National Mirkshel and Sonia (Mirck's girlfriend) who were also stranded there, and we decided to stay for awhile and wait for some development. We tagged along and agreed to do everything just to make it to mainland. After 3 hours of waiting as chance passengers, we were extremely happy that the coast guard allowed extra seats, and I was the last one to get in. Whew!
Stressed but smizing. |
Next struggle was from Dumaguete to Cebu. After docking, I decided to move ahead as they were planning to do something else which would delay my trip or I might miss the last ferry going to Cebu island. We exchanged numbers and planned to meet in the city but that didn't happen as I have to go someplace else after Cebu. Too bad.
And so, the Travel Junkie hopped at the back seat of a tricycle, sailed in a ferry, rode the bus, hailed a taxi and walked here and there until I reached Cebu City at around 9PM.
All smiles. |
The next thing I knew, I was partying at Loft with friends. It was a long day and night for me.
